The button near the top left, right by home.  Looks like a triangle.  I press it, and it does nothing.

I think that button is able to let you minimize or maximize your User Info at the top.  I remember seeing something like that a while ago on a different forum, and those buttons do look similiar.

I think that button is able to let you minimize or maximize your User Info at the top. I remember seeing something like that a while ago on a different forum, and those buttons do look similiar.
that would be great!  the top portion takes up half a screen when i first load the page!

Well,  when you hover your mouse pointer over one of the other buttons, a little message box pops up.  Nothing pops up when you hover the pointer over that arrow button. So, I'd say it isn't linked to anything.  As for "why" it's there ....  I have no clue.
