Hi guys/gals,

I just replaced the power steering pump on my 89 GT. I am now trying to replace the hoses as well. I could not tell where it was leaking from because there was sooo much fluid everywhere. My question/problem is the pressure hose. I got the end attached to the pump off fine, but the other end that connects to the steering is nearly impossable to get to. I was wondering if anyone knew some tricks or tips to get that end out and back in? Thanks sooo much for any replies.

I recently changed my steering rack, and had to re-attach my hoses the same way you need to take yours off to change them.

If I remember correctly, the way I got to that connection was around the backside and on top of the steering rack.  I had to use an open end wrench, and come in just below my headers with the open end facing the front of the car before it went around the fitting.

It was indeed a pain in the ass.

My friend just took his off in my garage a couple nights ago.  We jacked up the drivers side front just so the tire was a couple inches off teh ground.  He slid under there with an open end wrench, and was able to get it off.  If I remember correctly, my other friend was pulling the other line an inch or so out of the way to give him a little more room.
