I am looking to see what people have done for wide rear tires on a fox?
15 X 10 rim (15 X 9 maybe)

No quad shocks, rolled wheel wells....

Anyone have examples?

86 Vert has 9" wide wheels with a 275/40/17

89 Lx use a 9" wide wheel and a 255/45/15
or a weld 15x8 wheel with a 26x10.50x15 E.T. Street drag radial.

why do you need anyhting wider?  26x10.50's are good for low 9's....

There have been guys running 28x11.50's on a 10" wheel.  Massaging is required though.

I have a 89 vert with 17X9 with 235/45/17 Toyo's on the front and 17X10 with 245/45/17 Toyo's on the rear. I haven't had any trouble out of this combination until I put a set of Ford Racing lowering springs all around. Still have no trouble out of the rear, have a slight rub with the wheels turned all the way to the left.

Planning to run a 26" on the street (drag radial)

Maybe a 28" at the track (slicks)

I seem to recall a 295 wide on a fox.  275 may not be wide enough.  I will need to find someone here that may have something that I can bolt on and see how it looks...

thanks for the help, all!

My friend had a 1991 GT, he put 15x10" wheels with 295/50's and rubbed very little, car was all stock, so if you buy height adjustable control arms you will be good to go. Grin

I am hoping to learn more about backspacing, as the wheels will either be draglites or something of the sort., 15" rim, 26" or so tall....

No cobra R's, etc...

I'm running a 275/40 on a 9" wide wheel (this is on the '89). Quad shocks flipped, inner fenderwell "finnessed"  LOL

Hey Michelle, can you post some pictures of your car? The whole thing?  LOL Just from seeing the rear wheel area, looks nice!

Certainly! Thanks for the compliment.  Deal  Here's a few:

Very nice looking car! Mine is in the shop getting the new top put on right now. Going from white top to black top and I already blacked out the inside. I can't wait to see it finished. Afterwords, the long tubes and new 2 1/2" cat-back exhaust along with the King Cobra clutch are getting put in. Can't wait until my car is finished and looks as good as yours!

Thanks again, TTCT50!!!!  Deal Your car is already sharp! I noticed in another thread you said the car was a 'work in progress". My husband and I just looked at each other and said "Why?!?!?". The car looks really clean, and really straight. I definitely wanna see the updated pics. Just to make sure we're on the same page.........you have a red exterior, black interior and a white top? Sounds like a pretty rare combo to me (most I see with a white top have either red or white interior). Keep us posted, and DEFINITELY follow up with pics. Smiley

I redone the inside and converted it to black. It used to be white and red and looked awful! Tongue I have a page on MSN where I keep photos of the car. If you would like to see you can go to this link:

If you go there feel free to look at the others as well. The top should be done by Thursday, suppose to anyways and we have a 3 day weekend so if it does get completed I'll be taking it to you craft shop. Going to drop in the new clutch, long tubes, MAC pro-chamber pipe, and cat-back. Hopefully the week after the 24 lb FRPP injectors, 70mm TB, 73 MAF, and Polished Cobra Intake.  Grin That is why I said it was a work in progress. lol

I fit 28X11.5 15" Mickeys on 9" Weld Pro Star wheels under the back with no problems.  Loose the quad shocks, and minor fender well "adjustments" is all it took.

What a difference!!!!!! I love the interior. Your pics show that everything is being done correctly, without corner-cutting! Your car is beautiful, and it's coming along nicely. I look forward to even more pics (especially the engine after the intake), and I wanna see how much of a difference the mods make on your car.  Deal

The intake should be finished today. I worked from 9 to 5 on it yesterday. It took a couple hours to get a bolt out that I broke so it delayed it all. I brought the digital camera today so by Tuesday I should have some posted. Well, the craft shop just opened, time to go to work!
