The rear shock tower brace is actually discussed in 'Mustang Performance Handbook 2', and I was planning on adding one, though fabricated when I get around to putting in a cage.  It's a pretty good book thus far.  Discussed a few points I hadn't thought of.  It also includes instructions and blueprints for those with the mind set and skill to do everything themselves.  But I'd like to also hear from the experienced ones of the board.  Smiley

Signifigant? absolutely not.

I have never seen one of those in person and I have been around a lot of road open track type mustangs.

I think it is more of a showpiece IMO.

It may just be the pictures they provided but it looks like the bar is only mounted to the carpet covering the shock.....maybe it's just cause I'm tired.

In theory, it should help.  The more rigid the chassis is, the better (or more accurate, if that makes sense) job the suspension can do, and tying the rear strut tower points together is a good way to eliminate that '5th spring' effect.  All that being said, I'm not sure how much that would help.  It looks like it might be a PITA if it it is not easily removable.

Disclaimer: my head hurts really f***ing bad (migraine), so I'm not going to guarantee that statement, as I can barely see straight.  Blam

Waste o money.  Tongue If you want your rear suspension to be nice, go under the car. The rear strut brace, IMO, is nowhere near as helpful as the front brace. The front of your car needs help being pointed in a certain direction, the rear just follows it. If that makes sense.  LOL

Look at the way the rear susupension functions and look at the loads put on the shock towers.  Now tell me how the hell that is gonna change the track on the rear of the car.

Don't waste your money and buy a PHB instead.

Even in the front there is more important things to fix first then a strut tower brace.

I was going to mention the Panhard but didn't. Probably more work than Nick is looking to do at this moment.

I have honestly never seen a road race car set up with one of them.. I've seen PLENTY of PHB and torque arms but never a shock tower brace.

Wow, don't know how I missed this one....

The people who have stated that it's worthless are completely correct IMHO...

The reason for strut bars is simple, it keeps the sideloads from flexing the attaching towers.. The rear shocks on a Mustang get absolutely no sideloads! Even in a coilover conversion it is still an up and down load only. The reason you see some cages tied into these towers would be because of the amount of up and down load you can see put on these caps in coil over conversions or in STIFF valved Road Racing applications.. But still, a cross bar will provide nothing more then increasing your rice status... Grin
