Ok, I know this is going to sound crazy, so try to follow me closely.

Our 89 LX Vert has almost 18,000 miles on it. The car handles like a freakin dream........everything is nice and tight, and it has NO squeaks or rattles (which I'm told is odd in itself). Anyhow, when we take the car out (about 1-2 times a week), for the first 10 minutes of our drive, the passenger side shock is noisy. It's not a squeak, it's more like a "thud". Once the car has been driven for about 15 minutes, the noise subsides completely. My husband thinks it's due to the fact that the car spent it's life stored (it was owned by a couple in their 70s) and he thinks the shock noise is from sitting. I plan on replacing them this winter, but has anyone ever heard of this? I had a 91 that was beat to death (90K hard miles) and never had an issue. Please advise. Smiley

Yeah, sounds like the shock is pumping up after you ride around on it for a little bit. Replacing it should take car of your issue. I would guess some seals inside hardened up or something??

I agree. Once the shock jizz warms up it expands the seals and stops thumping. Get you some 99-04 takeoff rear shocks from Ebay for $10. They ride nicer than fox stuff and bolt right in.
