BFGoodrich Radial T/A's in a 275/50-15 for $250 shipped

or

Cooper Cobra's in a 265/50-15 for $204 shipped

What's better and why?

Also have the option of a 275/60-15 in Firestone Firehawk for around the same price, but they're a 28" tall tire, which might be a hassle.


Thoughts?

#1- The word cobra is in it...dead giveaway.
#2- There cheaper
#3- I honestly just like the looks of them over the BFG's and I use to buy them all the time. I thought they were a great tire.

however, if you are just looking for cheap rubber, either of those will work.

I don't know anything about the Coopers, or if they are a common green to another tire.  The Radial T/As are a decent tire for the money.  As for the Firehawk, without knowing what type, I wouldn't know what to tell you.  I have the Firehawk Wide Ovals and love them, but there are other Firehawks that are just 'okay'.

Ooh!!!  I just looked at the tire size- the Fuzion HRi is a good tire for an all season.  For some reason... I'm thinking they're VERY similar to the Bridgestone Potenza G-009.  No particular reason... honest!!!

Nitto's are expensive...and they are drag radials.  How long will they last on the street?

I had Coopers on here on my ollllllld wheels and I liked them, but wondering if the BFG's are much better.

And tires are relative to what you are used to running.. If you are used to running crap and don't have a problem with it, then stay with it..

I can't stand a tire that does not grip for s*** and wears like hell..

See them Firehawks are rated highly...by users...I know it doesn't always mean anything but I figured if that many people are happy with them...  Either way they're a 28" tire so a bit too tall.

Well, I am running "MasterCraft's" right now, with a low rear left completely bald with 2 nails in it, one of which will spark at night if I do a burnout. LOL

I'm used to s***ty handling vehicles anyways.  My LX has stock suspension down to the shocks & springs & bushings that were on it when I bought it in '98, and however long they've been on here before that.  Even with kickass tires it's not going to handle great without dumping some more money into it. Sad  My Dodge...another non-handler, same with the Bronco...so I'm unspoiled. Grin

They do have Nitto 555R's in a 275/50-15, but what's the street-life on these?

Shrugs!  I'm not too worried about the exact diameter, I have to buy a speedo gear anyways since I did the T-5 swap.  I figure 25-26" will be great. Smiley  I do thank you for looking though!  Anything else good in that 'range', in a 265/275?

Maybe I should say f***it with the handling, and just get the 275/60-15's and go with some wittle tires up in the front...ain't never gonna be an auto-x car anyways!

The 275s, and even a 295/50 will fit on that rim.  The Indy 500 is not a bad tire, it's just not the first one I'd choose, but I'm a self-admitted tire snob.  Wink

I was "told" not to put a 295/50 on the 8" rim because it might be a little wide/bulked up, what do you think about that?  I don't know how well that would fit on a Fox anyways...I'd be happy with 275 though.

Dave, I'm going to hurt you.  Beef  You know you're way past the mileage they needed to be replaced.  The tires could come apart on you any time- be super careful with the inflation and speeds and replace those as soon as humanly possible.

A 295/50 will fit on an 8" rim, but you won't get a great contact patch, the size works much better on a 9 or 9.5" rim.

Yeah I'm very careful with them, I have that one very underinflated so that there isn't too much pressure built up in there for it to pop. Poke  Really though, it needs air.

Yeah I think I'll skip the 295.

Talked with some more people and it seems like the 275/60-15 would be a good choice (the 28"), it will fit well, and look good.  I guess then I'll be probably getting those Firestone Firehawks...unless there's a better 60-series for a similar price?
