WTF am I doing wrong?!
«

Got the supercharger back today. Had it rebuilt and upgraded to the curved impeller (said it should add another 1-2psi) also got a UPR boostmaster pipe (another 1-2psi) and a bosch bypass valve. Got everything hooked up and double checked the gap on my plugs, they're at .034 right now.
Anyways. Before I sent the supercharger off to get rebuilt it would hit 5 psi at 5k rpms would hold steady when shifting around 5500. Now, even with a new, .5" shorter belt to make it tighter, it hits 5 psi a little before 5k rpms but as it passes 5k it drops off quick. I double, triple and quadruple checked everything!! It's all snug and no gaps anywhere. I also reversed the bypass valve and it does the same thing.
This blows

Yeah. damn.
I'd come down and help but I've got other plans today and I'd have no idea what I was doing.
Sorry man.

No. Freshly rebuilt and sounds great.

No. It doesn't feel like spark blowout, boost just starts dropping off after 4500 rpms. I'm wondering if the UPR pipe might be the culprit because boost didn't drop off before the pipe. I can't seem to find any rubber caps to close off the pipes on the discharge and intake tubes for the bypass valve but I don't think it's that.

What is the boost gauge reading off of?
I ask because I've seen people having their boost gauge reading the pressure of the discharge tube, which isn't correct.

It's on the little log on the firewall that the brake booster connects to.

Two different belts, made both as tight as possible and loosened them up a bit just to see and still the same result. As it climbs to 5psi, it starts dropping off as get above 4500rpms.

In regards to your original question, ("WTF am I doing wrong?!"), you bought a ball bearing supercharger. That's your main problem right there.
Having said that, you are encountering belt slip. Period.

What sorta of tensioner do yo have on it? If you don't have one, you NEED one like this...
Even vortech's stock way ot tightening the belt sucks.

The tensioner is held on by two bolts and the bracket has slits in it for the bracket to slide up and down. I've got it pretty tight right and it still isn't holding boost. I did notice that I when I got it back from being rebuilt that it was easier to turn the pulley than before. Could it be too tight?
I don't need to hear any s*** about my choice in superchargers...it was a good idea at the time but since it needed to be rebuilt way sooner than the guy I bought it from said it should, now it's not turned out to be such a great deal after all. Now I'm stuck with it so I want to make it work as long as possible.

Wouldn't that be a bit extreme and expensive for only 6-8psi?

got a reply from the guy that rebuilt the supercharger and he said to send it back to him and he'll set it up differently. what the f*** does that mean?? I get the feeling that means there isn't enough pressure on the ball drive so its slipping internally.

Found the problem.
Standard type F ATF > Synthetic type F for ball drive superchargers
