I always see people with belt tension issues, why don't they build a cogged belt for you guys?Huh

I hate running the kind of tension you guys have to run to keep the belt from slipping. It cannot be good for the front bearings on the supercharger and cant be good on the crank.... It would seem to me that there must be a big fat timing belt out there that would be easily available if you break it and also be able to put up with the load...

Any ideas???

Well my 1200BR does have a cog drive available. Most of them do have them available from ASP.

That is the one thing I don't like about the Kenne Bell.  I can see my belt slipping just by looking at my boost gauge.  Unfortunately, with my setup, there's really not much I can do about it.  Tongue

The KB is what I am looking at too.... I am building the car for Road Racing stuff and need the low end power with the flat curve... It will get me off the corners better..

Maybe I will have to machine a set up for it... I will let you know.

I see a lot of slippage which has resulted in a few broken belts.  I really wish there were a better alternative.  There has to be a better way of doing things rather than a rubber belt.

I think the only issue I can see with the belt thing is belt speed and strength.... I might do a bit more research on this one....

Cog belts are just as hard on parts if not harder.

Centrifugals in a non race application need slippage to survive long term.

People that go crazy on the tension deserve what ever comes their way.

I prefer to go with moderate tension and a little belt grip myself. I put a fresh belt on often. That is another mistake many make is running a belt too long.

A ribbed serpintine belt becomes a consumable when driving a supercharger.

Here is what I did.

First, buy a good belt.  Like the goodyear gatorback or the dayco version.

Second, sandblast the ribs on the blower pulley.....more bite that way.

Now you don't need so much tension and you also have ZERO belt slip.
