I'm working on my on water injection.  My biggest advantage to this type of system is that I can run higher amounts of boost without fear of detonation.  I am running water instead of alcohol for consistency of AF ratio for tuning.  The horsepower gain I will see will only be achieved through forcing more air (and fuel) into the heads.

I did the alcohol/water injection thing.  It worked out well, but I really didn't see a hp gain.  But I did quit blowing head gaskets.

I've since went to bigger injectors and better gas.  The alcohol/water injection was a b**** to tune and make it consistant.

Just my 2 cents

At 10psi you dont need it.I run 10psi in my 88LX and 18psi in my 87GN no problem. If you want to go to 14+ then it will help. B*tch Slap<---thats funny

You can see GREAT power gains with water injections merely from the fact that you don't have th run extremely retarded timing to stop detonation.

If you need to retard the ignition that much then something else is wrong. My LX has 16* initial timing, 10psi and no timing retard. If the fuel system is up to snuff then you should be good to go.Get the car running right first, then add methanol and jack up the timing and boost.

I run the Mr Freeze and I like it.    The only drawback is the tank is small.   I use about a third of a tank on a 1/4 mile pass.  Running 10.30's@132 on pump gas.   Wont go back to race gas............

How exactly does water injection work?

I use washer fluid..............  50 water 50 methanol (some of them).   What I have read is the water asorbs heat and cool the intake charge and the meth is a octane adder.    That will allow you to tune the car as if it was on race fuel.    you can run more timing and pull some fuel out to make more HP...........  it has been done for years and years.    works quite well.

so the water acts as a heat ttransfer medium...interesting
could yu use glycol instead of the water?

glycol will harm you bearing if it get in the oil.   I dont know if you can get 100% seal outta some rings.    So I wouldn't try that.    Some guys use straight water or denautred alcahol (SP?)     I have only tried the washer fluid.

do a search on methonal injection and do some reading.    Alot of turbo sites have good reading.

So where does it get injected?  Into the intake?

depends on the kit............  one with a pump is injected after the charger.    My kit "Mr Freeze" is pressurized by the boost itself so it has to be injected before the charger.
