I will replace all of it.  I'm going with a Kenwood CD player & Polk speakers.  I have/am trying to get all new speaker covers.  Trying because I just learned for the rear/upper RH side, 50resto no longer carries it!

Here's my question though!  I know there are a spots for speakers in the rear of my car!  Crutchfield only shows that there is 1 speaker back there!  A 6 1/2.  **Why are there 2 covers for just 1 speaker.**

I didn't share a key aspect of my life now in my new members post, because I flat out forgot to.  I was in a kinda bad ATV wreck on 1/13/02.  It left me in a coma and I now have a traumatic brain injury!  I have no memory @ all!  As soon as I read something, it's gone.  The easiest crap confuses the hell out of me, why I said I was very stupid!

I cannot grasp this speaker covers thing for anything though.  I do not have my car, so I cannot just rip the covers off to look.  I was hoping one of you knew something about this!  Thanks!!

The rear speakers should be 6"x8" and there should be 2 of them. Smiley

There's two speakers but I believe the vert rear speakers are 5 1/4 instead of the usual 6"x8". Front ones are 6"x8" though.

I used this site when I was doing my rip out; it helped me so it might help you. Even has some vert topics so be sure to take a look.

Just curious, how much are you looking to improve your soundstage? Just want to throw in some better speakers and be done with it? Or do you want to go one step further? If it's the latter, I can help because I recently installed mids and tweets in an active setup and of course an amp to provide clean power.

Yes, 6x8's in the front door.  Factory's are 6 1/2's.  I'm going with a 5 1/4 component system though.

Chowder Head, not really understanding what you typed.  Sorry, just too  many ?'s @ once for my brain!
I'll type what I want though.  I had Kenwood's & Polk's in my last 2 rides.  I will have a to relearn any receiver, because of my injury.  I hope that I will catch on to learning Kenwood's actions easier!  I am very brand specific now!!  Part of my brain damage, but always have been.  I definitely want good sound!  What does '1 step further mean'?

I am getting too old for the really loud speakers.  I just want great quality!

I don't know anything about what I am doing, really!  I can just BS my way for quite a ways.

I see from that link, there is a pic of that spot in question.  I can tell that 1 is a 6.5 speaker.  It seems to be a smaller speaker is behind that top cover.  Too small for my bad eyes to tell what it is.

Sorry, I skip from topic to topic!  That is how I now think!

I just got a reply from Crutchfield.  This is it:
Per my database it shows that there are four speakers in the rear of your car, you will have a pair of tweeters and a pair of mid-range speakers as well. They are behind the rear seat side panel grilles. You will have a subwoofer mounted in the rear deck portion on your vehicle as well.

I've had about 10 reps I've gone through!  This was the 1st time this has been typed!  Now just asking what size are the tweeters.

Well you can have an audio setup that not only sounds great, but also has a great kick that makes your music come alive.

What I mean by one step further is you're talking about just replacing the speakers and that's it. You'll notice an improvement that'ss for sure but if you really want your audio to shine and sound great, I suggest getting component speakers, an amp to power them, and a capable head unit.

And what I mean by an "active" set up compared to a passive is in an active setup, YOU define the parameters at what your crossover points are so you can fine tune everything unlike a passive setup where you're stuck with a pre-arranged setting from a company. Think of it as an auto vs manual tranny in a street car. Sure, both we will get the job done but if you want to nit pick squeeze every last piece of performance out and decide when YOU want to shift, you'd go with the manual.

Just trying to get a feel on how deep you want to go.

Tweeters should really be around the same give or take. I really can't picture one that wouldn't fit in the tweeter grill opening.

I would like to replace it all!  My wallet will not allow this though!  The guy who's going to do the work carries another line of speakers!  I'm going to price his stuff when I see him later today!  I've got about $310 I can spend on speakers.  I will definitely go with a Kenwood CD Player is all I know for sure.  We'll just see.  Thanks so much!!

I am going with pretty muchly all new stuff now!  I was going to buy Polk speakers.  I have had great luck with them in the past.  The guy who will be installing my stuff carries Memphis Car Audio stuff.  I will now get that!  I will still stick with the Kenwood Excelon CD Player though.  I just have owned I think 2 of them.  See ya!!

Pushing the audio system back at least 1 month!  I'm now going to have a black conv top put on!  That will just look a lot better with the paint scheme I'm having done!  I will then buy 2 toned front seats.  Black w/tan inserts.  I will leave my dash & doors in the saddle color.  I'm pretty sure I'll have my light bar dyed in black.
