5-0 Resto sells two, one with and one without the metal ring. I imagine OEM has a metal ring. I wasn't sure if I can use one without the metal ring, or if that one is to be used with the metal ring from the original boot.

What's the deal?

Thanks.

I cant remember if the stocker had a ring or not.

If the price is right, theres no harm in getting a new one.

I don't have the original boot, I did a t-5 swap.  I'm not sure if the 'no ring' is only for a replacement, required to re-use the original ring.

yes the stocker has a metal ring

and yes you should put it on.....it seals the rubber boot tight to the body. it keeps the noise, and more important the heat out in the summer

Right on.  I'll have to get the parts seperately then.

5-0 resto sells a kit that has a leather boot, rubber boot, bezel, and 4 clips for $70, but it doesn't look like that kit has a metal ring on the rubber boot.

I will have to call them to see if I can order the kit with the upgraded rubber boot, buying separately will cost quite a bit more than the kit.

You're right, it gets hot as dog balls, I have 3-4 t-shirts stuff up in there right now. LOL

Actually doesn't cost as much as I thought it would separately, didn't realize the bezel came with the 4 clips.

Word to the wise, it'll still be hot even after you put that lower boot in there.  I put some insulation in there when we did my swap.  It's the metallic material like the windshield sunshades are made of.  It seemed to help with the heat alot.  I drove that thing for about a week without it and it was like having a chimney in the car with you.
