I installed my 3g alt last night. I plan on picking up the wiring for this tonight.
I have a quick question for ya guys.
They say that on startup most electric fans pull around 20-30A, then drop down to a constant 10A draw. What gage wire should I pick up for this?

I ended up picking up 16 gauge wire to do the install. I have 1 more question, if you look at the thermostat you will see it needs a plug. I don't know how hard it would be to find the correct end for it, or if I should just modify it (and how).

The best way to do it would be a plug. The second best way would be picking up the correct size female terminal ends that fit the male terminal ends in the plug. Make sure they fit snuggly and will not vibrate off and apply some dielectric grease.

While I'm waiting on EVIL5LITER to track down the end plug. I think I'm going to pick up some terminal ends at RS tonight. I believe the 3/16" terminal ends will work. Found hereI'll keep you guys updated.

So hows the fan run? Not to be an ass, but that looks a LOT like the POS we just yanked from a friends car. With that small fan, and an intercooler, he honestly couldm't drive the car in the summer months during the day. We tossed on a ramcharger dual electric fan, and in afternoon FL traffic, he sees 180 max.

To tell you the truth, I haven't had it out much. When I have drove it, it's been great. It seems to move a lot of air.

Before installing the ramcharger fan in my friends car, we wanted to test it, so we had one friend hold it, while another ghetto rigged the wires. When I flipped the switch, it almost jumped out out of my friends hands. Its one strong fan!!!

In the future, if you want an easy fan install, www.dccontrol.com makes a fan controller that is light years ahead of the old relay and knob setup. It's cleaner, too. It also doesn't shock the fan into starting and only spins as fast as it needs to in order to cool.

Thanks. The controller is $115 and the fans were $180 off ebay. Dual Spal 11" 2800cfm combined airflow.

Not to shabby. I've got the Mark fan setup right now. Seems to be working well but no where near as clean looking as yours.

Thanks man. I had a MVIII fan to go on mine, but it wouldn't clear the crank pulley the way everything was setup and I didn't want to mess with tilting the bottom of my radiator forward for that clearance, so I just found this dual setup and it works great. It cools even with a/c and mid 90s outside. I'm impressed with it!
