Author Topic: Hard to find parts?  (Read 1021 times)

Anyone have any good stories? I think I've figured out a couple of the *worst* parts when it comes to ease of finding:

1) Stock fuel lines (rail to fenderwell and filter to tank.......Fox Stangs have different ones)
2) CCRM
3) 5 speed computer (not hard to find, but it's gonna cost you)

Any others?

Ouch!!! I found out the hard way (2 hrs from home) NOT to pull the chip out of a T4MO with the key in the ignition!  I forget how much it cost me! Shocked

Also, it's really hard to get an EGR gasket, nobody at the auto parts stores wants to give you a 94/95 even though you ask for it, it's always a 93 or earlier!

Now I don't need an EGR gasket Wink

Funny you should mention the EGR.........I forgot all about that! Every time we need one, it never fails. We first get one for a Fox, take that back, and usually end up with one for a V6 after that. One time, a parts counterperson actually told us to MAKE one!

Heres one.....you drop an injector and bust the pintle cap doing your H/C/I build.... Beef

You freak bigtime cause the Ford garage will only sell the the entire injector for like 189.00 or some BS amount...been here done that... BS

BTW....Napa sells a pintle/oring kit for like 4.00 per injector....

Good one! I droped an injector while removing them and cracked the "cap" on the end. I'll keep this in mind if it happens again.

Yeah, Ford dealers seem to like to abuse narcotics. I had a slow leak in my stock radiator a few years back. I went in to a dealership, just for laughs. $378 + tax. I promptly bought a Steeda 4 core for around the same price.

Ha, Michelle, I've got one on you... I went to the dealer to see if they would loosen... not change... two locking lugnuts, abd they told me it would be a half-hour labor.  Bastards!!!

I got a dealer horror story too.

Okay, in my '90 LX( I know, not a 94-95, but still), in the cener console, inside the armrest, the black plastic upper cover (under the top of the armrest, the thing with foamy pad stuff on it), the plastic latch broke (very common thing). Now the thing won't latch closed. And Superglue didn't help either.

I went to the dealer, and asked how much another one would be. I didn't think it would be that much, since it's just a piece of molded plastic. $43 + tax. Also known as RAPE.

Mavromont industries makes an aluminum replacement that wont ever break again for around the same price. I had one on my 88, and you could slam that thing 800 times a minute and it wouldnt break....good stuff.

Oh sweet! Metal! Linky?

They make an ashtray door repair kit, too, Murph. Also, 17" pony wheels, in argent, chrome, or white. Smiley

Cara,
It's only listed for a Fox Stang, so with the luck of 94-95 people, there's probably some stupid design change.  Roll Eyes

I work in a full-featured machine shop, so most mechanical parts are pretty 'easy' for me to find lol.

Like those latches...   CAKE...  !

Can you find me some fuel lines and a CCRM, and have them here by noon tomorrow? Don't I wish!
