Is there a big difference between tail pipes and dumps, as far as sound level and exhaust note goes?

My car as it sits has a MAC catback on there. I have sitting in my basement, a set of MAC pro dumps. If I switch to the dumps, am I gonna notice anything different?

Maybe I should just throw the dumps on ebay...

Dumps tend to drone more than tail pipes do.  Also one thing with dumps is that they will blow up dust and dirt from the road.  I would personally keep the tailpipes on for you hearing and the dirt factor.

I know this is a stupid question but I'll ask anyways...

What are dumps? Is that the turn downs on GT's (like my 90)? Or are they turn downs right after the muffler?

I think it's the 2nd option but I'm really not sure.

They are turndowns right after the muffler.  The usually exit right before the rear.

Ahhh, I bet they blow up more dust then the turn downs on a stock GT then.

The people I've talked to mentioned you can really smell the fumes when idling. Especially if you don't have any cats. They have the potential to drone more when compared to tail pipes as well.

And yes Joe, turn downs are directly after the mufflers.

That's what I did with those that came on my car. They make the exhuast seem a lot louder as the sound hits the pavement right under the car, it is very loud and makes you and your interior stink of exhaust.

i currently run open mufflers under my car, i don't smell any exhaust, but i do get a lot of interior noise, if you do use the dumps make sure to put them off at a 45 degree angle to channel the sound and the exhaust

I don't like dumps, give me a car with tailpipes any day.
