I always registered my '96 in another county that didn't require emission testing....It's got an off-road pipe and I never got around to putting MIL eliminators on it....When the engine light came on I just un-hooked the battery for a few seconds.

so with out the MILs it will just make my engine light come on? wont run crappy or anything?

I'm no expert but the way it was described to me is that it will retard the timing a bit but honestly I didn't see any performance drop off w/ the engine light on....It was more annoying than anything.
