Everyone has to go through it at some point.  I think the kid's ready to start life on his own.

That's how I feel. I'm finally going to be making enough money that I can afford rent, utilities and food, plus the location is 11ty times closer to school and I will have peace and quiet (no mom screaming at me to take the trash out, no crying baby at 4 AM, no grandma listening to the TV on 200 dB). It is worth paying money out of my pocket to be on my own.

Yes, I won't have money to buy many frivolous things like I would if I stayed at home, but I will have enough money before I move in to get some nice furniture and still have money left over at the end of every month so I'm not on the Ramen/hot dog diet.
I pretty much feel the same way.

When I first moved out it was great....but mind you that I the only bill I had was a 174.00 loan note and I was making about 45G's a year at the time.

First place was a room i rented in a 4 bedroom house. It was known as the car house with the following all in super sweet condition. 70 Boss 302, 69 Cougar Eliminator, 70 Firbird and my 62 Impala SS...

The house was s***.. I spent more time there completely f***ed up and was glad as hell when I left...

First apt was 300 a month, utilities included. It was small but cheap... sometimes I wonder how the hell we lived in that little ass place.

Dan, try Big Lots for furniture or flea markets, you never know what you'll find. Let your friends know what you're looking for, somebody will come through.

I'd suggest buying some stuff here and there, not alot, but stuff you'll need. Don't forget about asking for apt stuff for B-day or Christmas.

How about this:  Don't.

You will never realize how much money you don't have until you move out on your own.

Unless you like sustaining yourself off of Ramen Noodles and red hot dogs, don't do it.

been there...done that

it sucks

Big Lots for the win!  What they have around here is leftovers from the high-buck places like Ashley.  I just laid out $3k getting new furniture from Ashley and wandered into big lots to see Ashley tags on the stuff there.  I mean, you have to take what's there and you're getting what nobody else wanted, but it's still good stuff.

My first place was a dorm room with a roommate.  He only lived in the room for 1 semester before he joined a frat and moved into the frat house.  I kept the double room as a single and did the same for the next year.  Moved into a house for the last 2 yeats which was shared by 3 others.
