...........GO

Not even considering 1/2 tons, don't bother commenting on them.

Ford has completely lost me as a diesel customer, and the 5.4 is pathetic at best in a 3/4 ton. Marry that with the fact that they don't offer a manual tranny in Canada anymore. The new 6.2 offers a glimmer of hope, and we have one at work, but the hemi we have is killing it in every department so far.

Chevy 3/4+ front ends = fail off road.

Dodge has the hemi, great power and very affordable, unfortunately only available with the 5 speed auto tranny and its all mid range power, not bottom end. I have no clue as to the reliability of the new cummins, but at least they offer a 6 speed manual tranny with it. and it still has remotely decent fuel economy.

Anyways, gimme some opinions, and any input is good. I don't care if it's you cousins uncles cousins 3rd cousins opinion, i just want some input.

I have an 07 Dodge Ram 2500 HD with the "Hemi".  The thing is a fuking turd, won't get out of its own way with any kind of a load on it.  The truck weighs 7200lbs (work truck) and pulling a 7000lb trailer back from Buffalo to cleveland wouild not maintain 70mph with the cruise on (it would, but not shift out of 2nd).  Driving as best as I could to keep the thing from screaming at redline it managed to get 4.2 MPG on the way back on rt 90 (flat, no hills)

The truck is 4x4 and has 4.10's in it.  I would not take another one if it were free, let alone pay maney for it.  I've had the transmission replaced at 40K, the P/S cooler just crapped out 3 days ago.  The truck is starting to rot under the hood.  ( truck is very well taken care of and wash at least 2 times a week)  Trucks get regular serviced as it is part of a fleet maintence program.

I would have traded this truck for my "old wore out 05 Silverado 2500HD with the 6.0" any day of the week.  That truck was a beast.  I put 180K on it in 3 years, pulled 13,000 lb trailers with it and didn't have one single problem other than replacing brakes.  I actually tried to buy it from my company...

The problem with the hemi, is that it makes all kinds of crazy Horsepower from 4500-to redline, but has about 2 ft/lbs at 2K where you need it most.  This is no lie, but when the truck is at 65-75 mph and I try to accelerate and a flat road without downshifting...it won't.  The hemi would be a good motor in a very light car, or a half ton 2wd truck like a dakota....not for something that will have to be worked

You'd be a Can-GAY-dian if you buy a Dodge.

I lubz my truck.

Not sure what I would do if I had to replace it.  Don't really like any of the newer powertrains.

That's messed up, I don't think Dodge makes anything that is light anymore.....

And we haven't talked about ride and drive yet....

So it is a 3/4 ton HD...so it should ride rough right...well it has a utility bed and bunch of tools (actually about 7K GVW)...My 1983 C30 RV rides better...Seriouslly the thing rides a like a tank on a battleship.  It handles like a 1958 edsel with 3 weehls..

If you can't tell, I Fuking hate this truck.

And Dot...I'm not mad...I actually like the canadian bieres i got to try and maybe a few of the women, but I'm glad there is a line that seperates us..Glad to be home....that is all

Holy effin hell, i posted this in april?

Well i test drove a hemi, and freakinstang was dead on. I can't imagine towing with one. They have the power but it's all in the higher rpm. The only truck on the market right now that interests me is the ford with the 6.0 gas engine. Looks like they may have finally gotten a decent V-8 in their trucks, altho the 5.4 wasn't too bad, just a little shy on power. But i honestly don't want to drop that much coin on the first production year of a new powerplant.

Sooooo......... i'm busy talking a guy down on price on an 02 3/4 ton Dodge cummins. 70k miles and pretty much spotless. Rides like..... well, a Dodge but built like a brick s***house and it's not exactly breaking the bank either.

Anyone wanna buy a slightly used Ranger?

Well, finally got the damn 02 a couple weeks ago, took a month of negotiation. I wasn't big on the truck at first but after taking it for a drive, and finding out a few people i know could back up the fact it had been babied all it's life i went for it. I was aiming for a regular cab long box, but in reality, my slide in camper fits the short box no problem, and the extended cab with the clamshell doors works out pretty well. Last year was the first year it had been driven in winter, it even still has all the factory paint marks on the underside bits. It rides stiff, but a hell of alot better than the new Hemi's i test drove, and alot less hard on the back than my ranger was.
