So about that Obama guy... what an election huh? Did we figure out what everyone's plans were upon hearing the news?
Who won the election has no bearing on my plans.

As far as I'm concerned, I was mildly reflective for a few minutes. It really struck me when the closet nutjobs and racists came out swinging on the Corral.
I've always considered myself fairly conservative, but I've no desire to be linked with that ilk, whatsoever. At least if I'm turning liberal I'll be in better, smarter, more sane company.

Kinda funny, over at the 80% liberal based BMW internet website (Nice redundancy), there wasn't near the poo-slinging or stupidity. One guy decided to sell his assault rifle since it wasn't in line with the party's ethic. That was the weirdest thing I saw on there. In politics, anyway. So, yes. I feel that most forums are a cross-section of the real world. If 40 out of 100 posters there are retards, 40% of the party probably is as well.

They're just a lot smarter and have more branches in their family tree. That's the typical leftist line that they are smarter then everyone else. It's been a constant assault they've used on anyone that is considered conservative, that they are dumb or whatever. The leftist elites seem to think they know what is best for everyone else, those who disagree are just too stupid to know better. You bored Ralph?

No, nobody is telling me they're smarter. It's just becoming more obvious through reading.
Look at Cam, then look at your typical 'I GOTTA GET ME SOME BULLETS' poster.
Seriously.

Anything taken to the extreme, be it the left or the right is generally a bad thing. The polar opposites of both parties piss me off to no end.

I know a lot of BMW owners, myself in the past as well, and nearly all were conservative. And to believe that the population of an internet forum is representative of the population as a whole is just sophomoric. I'll just chalk this up to a momentary lapse of reason.

And I'll add one more thing. Do a little searching into the background of many of our prominent liberal democrats and you'll discover that quite a few, while preaching liberal agendas, live their lives conservatively. You can start with good old Hillary.

These guys are almost all liberalistas. A population of an internet forum is most certainly going to be some cross-section of the population at large; The only binding point for many being the subject of the forum. Now if the forum is guns, you'll have lots of right-wingers. If a good chunk of them are maniacs, there's a good chance a good portion of the general population of right-wingers is. Same goes for any interest, except the odd ones where the interest doesn't necessarily follow socioeconomic status of the enthusiast.

Ralph you are completely disregarding the fact that on these (any) forums there is no requirement for personal responsibility. There are no social (or otherwise) repercussions for any statements one chooses to make. That fact alone takes them out of the area of representing the population at large.
On the net, a thought comes to your mind, you can write it. That is not true in real life. You will be required to answer in some tangible way for the statements you make. That's why we all temper our words. Not many of the loudmouths you're referencing would act that way to your face, and you know it.

There are definitely wacky Libs out there. Just spend a few minutes on Daily Kos. With regard to Corral, I don't think it represents conservatives accurately. Most aren't anywhere near what these guys are talking about.

No, but there's a kernel of that person's real self in there. Just because the internet provides anonymity doesn't make what they're saying LESS honest, it probably makes it moreso. Overall, it just seems like the blue party attracts a smarter breed of people. That's anecdotal and purely my feeling, but I have a hard time not noticing.

True, that people tend to say things on line they wouldn't say in public, perhaps the anonymity lends to them going beyond what they would normally say or espouse. Cam did you put your bike up for the winter yet?? My tank and fenders are in the paint shop, should be done in another week or so, I hope. There is finally good riding weather here the last few weeks.

Maybe the smarter breed of the red party don't go spouting off their superior intelligence to everybody like those smarter breed blue party folks. Just because they don't speak up as much or at all doesn't mean their numbers are few.

Kinda, not really. The weather kinda turned to crap as of late, but I'm still holding out for global warming. I might even buy some chaps in the next week or so. I guess now's the time to be in Florida, huh? I still need to change the fluids (primary chain, tranny, and engine). I managed to put about 4K miles on it this summer.

I managed to put about 4K miles on it this summer. 65-75 degree days and 45-55 degree nights usually, you tell me? Good job on the mileage, I've been severely slacking on mine. Considering I put 18,000 miles on my 1200 sporty in a year and a half, and I've barely got that on my lowrider since then. Overall, it just seems like the blue party attracts a smarter breed of people. That's anecdotal and purely my feeling, but I have a hard time not noticing. That is your perception, you can develop an opinion on someone based on their behavior in a message forum, but that isn't how they are in person. I've noticed those that tend to be eloquent and act "intelligent" are the first ones to hide under the couch when the feces hits the proverbial fan, while those who are considered to have large foreheads and no family tree are taking care of business, just my observation

It was my first one, I did those 18,000 miles on an island in the pacific too. I paid $5400 for it, drove it a year and half and sold it for $4600 to buy the FXRS.

As George Bernard Shaw said, "one who is not a socialist at 20 has no heart, and one who remains a socialist at 40 has no head."
Although he was not the first to speak these words. They originated in Europe, likely France, and referred to socialism as opposed to liberalism. Many today would question if there is any longer a difference between the two.
