I looked up the cost of a common exhaust system for my car: 1100 for catback 1700 for turbo-back (mid-pipes) 3000 for headers I like the Mustang aftermarket better. You can get a heck of a lot more for 6 grand.

You could get another car That's just the beginning dear. I can put you in touch with someone that has been there and done that regarding your car, bigger turbos, etc.

I want to keep the car stock. Except for the brakes and a chip (and the intercoolers and the diverter valves, of course). Really, I was only looking at exhaust out of curiosity.
You believe me, right???

You can probably get Kooks to make you custom headers for less than that. Heck...anyone that pays 6,000 for 30' of bent tubing and clamps is a *** damn moron. Reminds me why I hate the audi crowd... bunch of silver spoon p*****s...

If you drove this car, you would understand it's not about some status symbol (granted it may be for some people). It is a finely tuned engineering acomplishment IMHO. *shrug* I don't really fit into the Audi crowd anyways. I'm my own person.

Fine as long as its stock and has full insurance coverage. After building mustangs for 10 years you learn to appreciate how simple and cheap fords are to make VERY fast. You already know that tho... and no you are not the typical audi knucklehead. I'd keep that thing as close to stock as possible....

You still would probably enjoy talking to Jason. As I recall he said he spent over $5k upgrading the turbos.

I'm sure he's pissed a good 10K+ into that car if not more. On his 99 Cobra he blew probably twice that. He's like the CA version of Dave when it comes to cars.

Yeah, have him shoot me an email, I'm sure I could learn a thing or two! I'm not planning on doing any major upgrades, the car is great the way it is (could use a tad more boost). I like having a reliable car, and I can look down the road and see the futility and cost of modding the heck out of the car. One could easily dump 20 grand into the car.

You know, there's a local shop that will build you a custom stainless exhaust, front to back, one piece if you want, with cats and your choice of mufflers welded in and it's BEAUTIFUL for the range of $750. Those prices are just insane. Lop out the mufflers and clamp in some cherry bombs and be done with it!
