Jeebus, I forgot all about this place!

I've got the '67 painted now, just need to reassemble it. The wife and I are looking to sell our house and move closer to work (55 mile commute...1 way Shocked ) but this economy isn't helping potential buyers.

So how have you folks been?

Are you guys still in that cute little house she had bought when I visited way back in '03? Is she still working at the same hospital?

55 miles one way commute has got to stink! I drive 35 miles one way and that's bad enough!

ROBIN!

Yeah, we're still in the same place. We both work in Birmingham now; myself with the University of Alabama at Birmingham doing computer stuff and Holly at the Seale Harris Clinic on the St. Vincent Hospital campus doing lab stuff.

I've been making this drive for nearly 6 years now, used to make the round trip twice a day when I was in school. I'm really ready to not spend $800/month in gas and give up 3 hours of my time sitting in traffic every day. We were talking about it and realized that, combined, we lose 30 hours per week to sitting in traffic.  Crazy

30 hours a week?!?!? You'd be reading about me in the paper, especially up around Birmingham, my commute is 7 miles, and two stoplights  Grin

To make it worse, if you know the Birmingham area, it's almost all HWY 280 too.  Blam

Maybe you could rent out your house and find someplace closer to work to live. That way you wouldn't take a beating on your equity by trying to sell it.

Even if you rent it for less than your mortgage, at least you would have some money coming in to offset the payment.  That's what I'm doing with my house in Orlando right now.

I wouldn't trust the people in this town to make payments on a popsicle. We're fine with the drive for now, we'd just like to make it shorter. There's no big rush to move because we'll never find a place cheaper than this.
