This one has been good to me for 4 years.  Even you, couldn't pitch a Dell Laptop to me.  I've had 5 over the years and they've all been huge piles compared to this Toshiba.  The OS crashed and I've got some work to do to retrieve some stuff off it before it gets slicked.  HD might be on it's way out I'm told, could have dropped a sector corrupting stuff, not sure.

Actually with the prices Dell is giving on complete systems these days, I've lost all interest in building anything.  I'm not a gamer, don't need blazing performance, just a good system and they seem to provide that at a real reasonable price.  All we use at work is Dell, lap and desk, and they're great performers, all of them.

Is that a Toshiba satellite?  We've had more problems with those heaps at work than anything else.  The HD magmas way prematurely on all of them, some of them at less than three months use.  Glad you had good luck with it, but trust me when I say a good Toshiba is a fluke.

And yes, your HD is bad.  It's a Toshiba, it's been going bad since it was born.

Funny we've had opposite experiences.  Our Dell laptops at work have been so problematic we've gone to Toshiba.  I beat on a Tecra Tablet daily at work and have for going on 2 years now.  The Satellite is 4 years old and this is it's first issue.  The Desktops we get from Dell have been pretty bullet proof except for the MB issue on one model and they did a recall on them.  We rarely ever have issues with the desktops, but all 5 of my Laptops have had huge issues.  Hard drives, screens, multiple cooling fan issues, you name it pretty much. 

The Lenova has been recommended by others too Andy.  Work floats us an interest free loan on computers and peripherals up to $2500 every couple of years.  It's payroll deducted and I've been due a while, just haven't had the need.  I do need to upgrade the CPU in the desktop my son games with though.  The last game he got is taxing the AMD 3500 to the point he had to turn some of the settings down just a bit.  The Asus MB in it will accept the Core 2 Duo so perhaps it's time to upgrade that and throw some more Ram at it.

I have never attempted to or actually sugarcoated my thoughts, feelings or opinions towards any one person nor website.  I call things how *I* see them.  It doesn't mean that's how it IS, just my opinion.  If you don't like that, that's too f***ing bad.  I'd rather someone hate me for my honesty and opinion, than like me for being a fake or fraud.  I have said for a long time the only reason I come here is because a few people whom I like, choose to post here instead of other sites I regularly visit.  If you think I'm here for the tech you are sadly mistaken.  It used to be fun "back in the day", but like all new sites, people get pissed off at each other, leave, and the site fizzles out as this one has.  There are a few regulars, like most other small sites.

And there was and still is a standing order that he can not come with in 500 yards of her or her daughter. So because she flipped out about that yes they sent her home.
