Im really interested in it, as i like to try stuff out, but the severely biased comparison in a recent MMFF or 5.0 mag dissappointed me they tested a 306 with heads, and the BBK vs Stock and it showed "great Improvement" the thing is that i could make an intake out of paper mache that will improve greatly, i wanna see it tested vs. a holley systemax, Street/Track heat, cobra, GT40, and a typhoon, in both NA and force fed applications before i buy it.

agreed.....an intake dyno-off would be excellent! Unless it posts up astonishing numbers...i'll pass.
Take a set of common heads like GT40's or somthin modest and run all the intakes on it. Stock heads wont really show off the intakes capabilites...

I think on the 306, it was in a '93 Cobra but they compared the BBK against a stock 5.0L HO intake and not the Cobra intake...been a while since I saw the article so I'm not 100% sure.....

Before, when I was thinking of staying N/A, I actually entertained the thought of one of those on top of a 331, but couldn't find any testing data on them.

I also think it is badass. If I can save my pennies (SO hard to do!), I will buy one, if I stick with EFI. And by IF, I mean that I have two possible plans for the car over the next decade or so (yup, I'm in it for the long haul here ). Plan 1: Stock shortblock, BOSS 302 heads (or 4V Cleveland equivalent), some dual-plane 4-barrel carb intake, 4-barrel carb. Top that off with a Paxton Supercharger running at 5psi (its there to keep it streetable, not make gobs of power. I wouldn't mind it doing that though . So basically, I would be making a home-grown BOSS 302, but with much better street manners (thanks to the S/C). I would expect at LEAST 350-400 hp out of this setup, with the right tuning. Plan 2: 331 stroker kit, with some aftermarket heads (don't know what yet). Top that off with the new BBK SSI intake, and I'm good to go. This would be easier, as I would keep EFI. These are the two future plans for my 1990 LX right now, and I am continually changing them in my head. Nothing is on paper yet. These are the two possible plans for the far, far future (as in, years from now). If you noticed, I have not chosen a "brain" (bumpstick) for the plans yet, as that will take some heavy research, and probably result in a custom grind anyways. I may just throw an E303 in the #2 Plan though. #1 would definitely be a tough one to get, most likely not an off-the-shelf part for that. So, what do you guys think?

A boss 302 is off all coolness, but finding a trackboss intake is next to impossible and I don't think anyone is remaking it as I know of. (I had everything to put this motor together, but sold the stuff cause I wasn't paying 600-800 for that intake, our a genuine Boss intake).
With todays technology....I would go with a 331 or 408 stroker and some nice AFR heads and Vortech. Be done with.
The driveability of the boss combo would suck, but the rewards would be worth it if used for weekend warrior duty, and you'd have to rev it at least 7 grand to make and decent power.
We've got enough friggin intakes. Unless it blows everything out of the water, why do we need another?

REread my original statement....You can keep the Dildo for your car. We've got enough friggin intakes. Unless it blows everything out of the water, why do we need another?
So let's see, we have the Edelbrocks both the performer and the Performer RPM Holley TRickflows- Street, Track, Race The Cobra The GT-40 The Downs/Comp Polymor box intake with gt-40 lower Vortech Saleen So like I said, Unless it blows everything out of the water, why do we need another?

Back on track!!! If we are going by looks alone I kinda like the look of the BBK as it seems to provide some symmetry to the engine. It has more of a balanced look.

The jury is out - I think many people are waiting for some "guinea pigs" to step up to the big cost and see if it's worth it.

The old BXR looked vaguely similar, but it worked in a completely unrelated fashion. It was an engineered balanced cross ram with perfectly straight runners. The BBK piece is just a kooky looking upper for a GT40-like lower, for all intents and purposes. While the BBK lower uses rectangular ports, its layout is staggered much like the GT40.

You can do that and still have $200 left over after porting AND shipping.
