I'd just like to say for the record that my friends at BuckeyeStangs.com absolutely ROCK.  I posted that I was pulling the engine, they askied if I needed any help, and BAM I had 4 extra sets of hands!  They were too cool.  I've never really had help with wrenching stuff, and boy, a little bit of help goes a long way!!!

We pulled the engine out and started tearing it apart.  We found a little Aluminnum in the bottom of the pan, on the pickup, and in cyl#1, but we were thinking maybe it was the spark plug threads.  Nothing notible on the cylinder walls or pistons.

Anyways, here are some pics we took...

These guys were awesome help!!!

Here's clyinder#1...

and aluminum on the oil pickup

Here's the new amount of boost Charles decided I should run...

Here's Kurt getting putting the bolts through the chains for the load leveler

Weight savings...

Here's my poor garage afterwards...

Good stuff! Man that garage is wrecked, but that's how mine looked after only an intake swap.

Good job, Cara!!!   It's all downhill from here!!

And the good part is that it won't be anywhere NEAR as messy going back in.   Wink

Drysweep is your friend.....Where did that much mess come from? Did you drain all of your fluids before removeing the motor?

Wow.  If you use the drysweep, let us know if it works.  We're gonna have a mess soon when the engine bay gets cleaned; that's going to happen so because the machinist has all of MFE's parts and is ready to go.

Looks like a BIG garage.  Ours is, well, not so much.

ThanKs, guys... I'm pretty excited!  It was a crew of five, actually.  I had four people show up to help.  Very cool- I'm used to working alone.

I normally use kitty litter.  It seems to work fine, and I just shovel it in the trash later.

Mr. Black- my big picture thread?  Yes, I did read it. I haven't made any decisions yet, but there is a possibility of a Vortech in my future.   Huh

That's my little garage.  Wink  My big one doesn't have heat or electricity yet, but it's over 1000 sqft.

I still think NA stroker could be the way to go if you only need to shoot for a 12 second goal.

I just noticed the placement you have the boom set at on your engine hoist.  It's at the 1 ton setting.   You can probably get by with it at the 1/2 ton setting.  That's still 1000 lbs capacity which is plenty, and will help the hoist clear your front end better and place the hook more over the top of your motor better.

I lifted Fred's longblock at that 1/2 ton setting with no problems weight wise, but it was still pretty close trying to get the hook directly over the motor.  I didn't have a load leveler though, just a chain.

John, I'm sure I could've... I guess I was just being super conservative.  I didn't have any problems with it, though.

I was planning on doing it myself, but I'm really glad I had help!

I admire the help you had.  Just goes to show how tight-knit the community really is and that they all showed up like they did.  That's totally cool.  Smiley

Getting the motor out is doable by yourself, but a little help sure doesn't hurt.  But it really does help to have an extra few sets of hands dropping it back in, though.  Aligning everything, controlling the hoist, etc.  I did it by myself, but it would have been easier with at least one more person.

Ahh, it's really not that difficult.  Once you get past the SN95 power steering pulley, it's just a few bolts here and there.  Putting it back together will probably be the more challenging part.  Wink
