Figured I'd start this thread here, then let it get moved over.  I kinda need some options right away.

I don't want to have to notch it out like I did the cast ones to clear my rockers.  I realize I'll probably need a plenum spacer.  It will be for a typical 5.0 combo, so hopefully it will have the filler neck w/tube setup and baffle (that I won't have to mess with for clearance).

What works for you?  I could use some ideas.    Smiley

Here's what the wife has. Had to get tall die cast ones to clear the Harland Sharps.

Hmmmm.  Are they the same as the type I'd get from someone like say.......Ford Racing?  Or is Trick Flow more or less proprietary to their specific heads?  Also, got pics?    Grin

No, the parts would be the same.  Only difference is where the filler neck is.  These are designed so that you put your own filler neck in.  I couldn't run them because of the crazy Kenne Bell clearance issues.

You go right ahead.   Thanks anyways, Cara!  Nice looking covers.    Smiley

I have a pair of Ford Racing valve covers here in town I can pick up.  Looks like I'll go that route instead.  Also have a half inch plenum spacer on it's way from Edelbrock.  Their tech support is certain I'll have the clearance I need with this RPM II plenum and the taller covers.

While on the subject; I'm getting ready to finish installing GT40 heads with the Steeda 1.6 Roller Rockers.  I'm sure the covers will need to be trimmed.  I have heard though oil can end up blowing into the throttle body (if you leave hose connected)  But if you plug the hose hole, you'll blow out the PVC hose.  Any thoughts? comments? suggestions?  Anyone have photos of how much they cut off of their stock covers?

Mine are stock 89 valve covers that I ground the baffles out of with a dremel, and them powdercoated black. I have E'brock performer RPM heads and probe 1.6 rockers if it makes a difference.

These are what I took off.

These went on, but I needed a half inch plenum spacer.  And even with that, I had to modify my throttle cable mount bracket to it wouldn't hit the covers, and also dimpled my left side breather cap to clear the corner of the plenum.

Could you have switched them side to side? Or put the breather in the other side. Then not use fill neck ( or is that a breather too, kinda hard to tell in the pics.) but a small push in cap.
