Hi everybody!

I plan to build a 408W in the future and I wonder what cam and heads I should use.
The engine is for street use only and therefore I want a lot of torque at low rpm.
What do think of GT40 heads with 1.94 / 1.60 valves? Are they too small for that much displacement?

IŽd like to use a retrofit rollercam, but not sure which one is good for low and midrange torque.

What parts would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

2.02 and 1.60 valve heads are what I would use. If you are building for torque though don't get the heads that have the largest volume runners because then you will sacrifice velocity. These sized valves should provide you with the volume you are looking for in a torque motor.

Valve size and runner volume is a dance you have to figure out when building specifically for torque. You want a head that will supply all the air the cylinder wants while keeping the velocity of the flow as high as possible. I don't have all the answers but this is what I have learned over the years. This is also only my best guess.

If I were building the engine for horsepower I would go with bigger vlaves than these.

The cubes will give you all the torque you can handle.  I'd run AFR 225 heads and ~280° duration cam.  Run at least 10:1 static compression, maybe more based on the cam valve events.  You want a Dynamic Compression Ratio of ~8:1.  Run a Trick Flow R series 351W intake.  It wiill scare ya........

please dont ever put a set of gt40 heads (except the z heads) on a stroker! like others said, the 225s would be great for that setup. Cam should be something custom for best results.
