I am planning to build a 393.  I have seen HP #'s all over the board...
So the question is:
Whatcha got? (set up, as specific as you are willing to be)
Whatcha put down? (Ever dynoed, etc.)
Whatcha running? (Best ET)

I am looking to build the 393 to about 11.0:1 CR, big lumpy cam, big heads, etc, etc. etc.  Nothing is in concrete yet...

Any assistance is appreciated.

Only thing stock on motor is the timing cover.
 DArt block. .030" over.
Eagle stroker kit #14127. Custom Ross pistons.  14-1.  AFR 205 heads. ported by Ryan of Eau Claire, (wish I had money for some 225s.......but no). Anyway, super vic intake (also ported/flowed by Ryan).
Biggs prepped 950 holley.  Msd ignition.  Isky solid roller cam. Crower roller lifters. Crane pushrods. Harland sharp roller rockers. Probe stud girdle.  Melling oil pump. Canton pan.   Hooker super comp headers. 2" primaries, 3.5 reduced to 3" collector.
Engine made 711 hp and 565 ft lbs tq.
 Engine was internally balanced.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd build a BIGGER stroker (out of a windsor).   (just dont' like big blocks).................(except for bbc)   Wink

Having had a blown 302 with around 480rwhp and driven my friends 13:1 418 drag car, I'm pretty much set on the big cube/compression windsors.  I'm currently piecing together a 12-13:1 393 for track and street playtime.  If going 11:1 get the BIG heads, intake and cam.  Don't fear the bigger pieces is my best advice.  When we did my friends 418 he bought a set of afr 205's, a victor jr and an 850 dp.  He wanted to set it for hyd roller even though I wanted him to go solid.  He found a used comp cam with 252/260@.050 and 595 lift.  My initial reaction is "WHOA, holy crap what a big cam".  I figured it was going to be a mutt til the revs got up there.  It's perfect for the motor.  It makes Tq like you wouldn't believe.  Untuned, went 10.68@126 hitting the limiter for 200 feet.......

Do the 393........

595 lift?..........a street driven car, mostly?

Mine (solid roller), is only 765 lift, and we were going to have 800............ Cool

We're going to change to solid sooner or later and I expect a huge increase.  I think we can footbrake it and lift the front tires on launch if i'm not mistaken.
