97 non-PI motor , PI heads & intake...which i heard raises compression a half point over stock...

Whats the best cam setup? Something with a rougher idle, but streetable...

Call Jay Allen. If you're just tire kicking then go with someone else, otherwise if you are serious call him. He will call you back.
Both of my last cams I've bought came from him and I couldn't be happier. His service after the sale is awesome.

I doubt he does custom grind cams.

It honestly depends on the car.  Auto with stock converter?  Go with the 262's.  Stickshift and decent idle?  Go with the 268's.  If the car is a heavily modified N/A car, you might want to look at the 274's.

Easiest thing to do is look at Comp's website, the description they give with each cam sums it up pretty well.

The one thing you need to remember though is that you are not going to pickup a ton of power with this, and if you aren't going to change the springs, locks, and retainers, then you don't need to be doing it in the first place.

Good stuff, thanks dave.

Pretty much what i was leaning on..

Keeping it N/A, just looking for a little 'umph' out of it, thats all.. nothing too wild...but noticeable.

Custom might be the way to go, eh?

I've "designed" my own cams using engine analyzer, bought a couple from comp and crane using their "experts" and am far more pleased with the one I got from Jay. I haven't got the 351 into the car yet but I know that it will scream when I do. Jay will help you out not only with the cams but he can recommend some things to make your combo more efficient.

BTW Jay is going on vacation with his family until 7 April, so if you do call be patient. His knowledge and customer service is worth the wait.
