Noice! I have thought many times about doing something like this with my stang. I would be nice to have a 400+hp ALL motor.

I have also thought about 331 with a stock block 302.
What do you think the whole conversion will run you?
x2, any ideas?
351C, you can use 302 heads on these right? Not that I would want too, I just remember someone talking about how they did it and got OK numbers with it.
4v closed chamber heads? oh really?
Sorry about all the questions. I just don't have much knowledge on the bigger blocks.
No problem, ask away.

The whole deal will probably run me thousands upon thousands of dollars. By the time it's said and done, I'll prolly have a good $4-5K in the engine alone. Maybe 6-7K if I go for a 393/408 stroker instead of the stock stroke.
The 351C is a smallblock, and has the same bore spacing as every other Ford smallblock. So yes, you can use 221-351W heads on it, not that you'd really want to. It'd pretty much just be a beefier 351W if you did that(very stout bottom end).
I am still tossing ideas around for it as far as the heads go. I'm either gonna get cheap (under $400) 70-71 4V heads, or get CHI 3V heads for about $1,500 bare. I'm weighing my options, and since I can get the CHIs with the 302/351W accessory bolt holes (so I can just bolt up my stock alt, P/S, A/C and go), I am REALLY leaning towards that. Everything else is still up in the air. I have NO clue on what valvetrain I am gonna run, except that it will be a hydraulic roller cam and 1.73 roller rocker arms, with stainless steel valves, probably 2.19 IN/1.71 EX sized.
The bottom end will have 4 bolt mains, not because they're particuarly stronger (they're not, for the money it'll cost), but just to brag. The 2 bolt mains are plenty strong, and at the RPMs I will be running (7,000RPM or less) 4 bolts won't be needed. But I still want 4 bolts.

I will try to use aluminum everything, but paint the longblock (save the intake) Ford Grey, same color as the stock engine. I'll probably use BOSS 351 valve covers, or something similar. Maybe oldschool Moroso gold valvecovers, I dunno.
To be honest with you, I am not really gonna be spending much at all on this engine for a good year or two, most of my money will be going towards school and the rest of the car. The car can barely handle what my 302 is putting out now, I shudder when I think what'll happen if I put a built 351C in it with sticky tires and launch it hard (MASSIVE chassis tweaking!). So I'll probably buy some Maximum Motorsports stuff to stiffen and lighten the damn thing. Sub frame connectors, etc etc etc. I'll probably buy their tubular K-member too, to strengthen the front suspension up a bit, and lop off some weight from the front end, to even out the weight of the 351C.
