Looking for some feedback on The GT-40 Y303 heads. I might be picking up a set cheap. I dont want them if they don't perform better than my ported iron Gt-40's. Thanks

You asking about the crate motor aluminum heads? The only problem I see with them for a good street motor is compression. They also have pedastal mount rockers which are not the strongest . They do make pretty good horsepower right out of the box though. I beleive there are to different sizes for combustion chambers I think it is 58 cc and 64cc . Good luck I don't think you could go wrong though on a street motor.

These are a local deal, so Joe unless your buddy lives in Ohio...Differant heads.
These have studs, not pedestals. Whats the differance bewtween the X heads and the Y heads?
They were on the car when he bought it. He said they were Y heads, but they have studs and he's never touched them. He stepped up to AFR's and doesn't need them.

These are a local deal, so Joe unless your buddy lives in Ohio...Differant heads. that's one hell of a ka-winkiedink. These have studs, not pedestals. Whats the differance bewtween the X heads and the Y heads? the difference? two different letters in the alpha. They were on the car when he bought it. He said they were Y heads, but they have studs and he's never touched them. He stepped up to AFR's and doesn't need them. I would buy them anyway... if you can't use them you can always sell them for probably more then what you paid fi he's cutting you a deal.

X305 (58cc) X303 (64cc) heads have 1.94" Intake and 1.54" exhaust valve diameters.
Intake flows approximately 240 cfm at .550" lift
Exhaust flows approximately 170 cfm at .500" lift
Intake port volume 178cc, exhaust port volume 62cc
Y303 heads have 1.94" intake and 1.54" exhaust valve diameters.
Improved air flow over original GT-40 cast iron and production heads (no spec)
Intake port volume 160cc, exhaust port volume 53cc
Both have this note...."Will not fit 1986 5.0L with flat-top pistons unless pistons are notched for valve relief"
For $400 bucks I would take them.
Steve
