I recently went to leave work on a hot sunny day. I entered my 93 5.0L GT which only has about 55k miles on it. I turned the key and it tried to turn over once and then went to a click. Every time after that it clicked once and didnt start. My radio, lights, etc all are working and turning on my radio was still programed. After trying to jump it and not having luck, I decided to bump start it.

I drove home turned the car off and immediately tried to start it, it started right back up no problem at all.

I therefore figured it was the battery. I took the party to be test, the results said it was bad, bought a new battery and put it in my stang. It didnt start in the same fashion as before. Is it the starter or alternator??? has anyone had this problem, can anyone help

thanks.

Sounds more like a starter solenoid (or starter) problem then anything. Has the starter solenoid ever been changed? Is this the original starter?

Also, Here are a few tests you can do...

1) Test the voltage from the battery (car not running)
2) Test the voltage of the alternator (car running)
3) Test starting it directly from the starter solenoid
4) Take out the starter and bench test it

Once you have done some tests you can report back here. Smiley I have a feeling #3 is going to be the best test.
