My experience....
351 cam worked in my 302 - non-roller motor.
Also, after a little research:
Hyd. Flat Tappet Cam in a Roller block - yes.
Roller Cam in non-roller block - no
However, take the part number, check the manuf. website, and it may be listed on both.
The only unbending thing about any Ford block and camshaft is this:
Mechanical lifter blocks can use only mechanical flat-tappet cams and lifters. They cannot be converted to hydraulic.
Hydraulic blocks can use either regular flat-tappet hydraulic lifters, or roller hydraulic lifters. Non-roller hydraulic blocks have to be converted.
You can use a mechanical cam in all three, with some modifications to to the oiling system of hydraulic blocks.
