Generally they look pretty funny if you just toss a Saleen or whatever nose on and don't do the skirts and rear cover as well. Those things are designed to flow down the car, and they rarely line up.
If you're not gonna go all the way around, leave it alone or get the OEM cobra.
And don't even think about doing a Cervini Stalker nose without the rest of the kid. A retard I know did that and it looks completely ridiculous.

Hmmm.....currently leaning towards getting the Saleen body kit. Only things I wouldn't add would be the decals and the stickers that say "Saleen" on them. I like the looks of them but again, I know my car is a GT and posing just aint me.
Now I'm searching through respectable vendors that sell QUALITY body kits for the lowest price possible. If anyone has any opinions on where I should look, please let me know. I know Cervinis is one of the best but I don't think they make Saleen stuff.
Thanks.

A color change will add an easy $500 to the bill. If you like the green, keep it. It doesn't look bad shined up.

That's what I was thinking. Polished and waxed dark green looks pretty sexah IMO.
Don't know why, but I thought the Saleen kits included the hoods. Guess not. So, if I go with the Saleen look, it'll be around $1,100 for the kit, $560 for the Saleen heat extractor hood from Cervini's, and a paint job costing around $3,000, give or take a few hundred, and the total is like $4,500 or more.
Damn. This s*** adds up fast.
I have the cash on me but shiat, do I want to spend this much? I'll be scouting for sale ads for sure but damn, that price figure was a smack in the face.
Do I want to, or no....
This sucks.

Lemme throw this in for thought.
Let's say I just got the paint job taken care of. Then later on I still really want the Saleen kit. Does anyone have an approx cost for a body shop to paint just the fenders, skirts, everything the kit has, to match the dark green paint job I recently received?
If it's not that much since it's just a few items, I think I might do that. Like I said, I have the money now if I wanted to do the whole she bang but I'd like to have some more in the bank for the what if you know?
Thanks guys.

IMO, if you're going to go through the trouble and COST of getting a paint job, wait until you decide on the kit, or not. Spray it all together. There's no rush in any of this. Weigh it all out, formulate a plan, make a decision, and then act on it.
What color do you really want? $4500 is a lot of money to toss at an SN-95, blech.
Maybe you can find a decent roller or a car with a s*** engine that looks like you want?

Hey, I don't make the rules.
I would never spend that much on a paintjob. I'd find one already painted to the color I want.

Now I'm leaning towards that's way to f***ing money at this point in my life, and leaning towards just getting the 96-98 Cobra hood, the one with the nostrils, and the cobra bumper.
If the price for those two components isn't that crazy, I'll do that, get it repainted, and call it day for the look department. If I really want the Saleen look in the future, I'll get it once I get my career that pays a hell of lot more than what I'm getting now. Saleen does look the best IMO but not right now at this point in my life...
Ah....there's that logical, reasonable side of me I was looking so desperately for....

That is, of course, if I WANT to go that route.
Maybe I should just leave the body alone and get it repainted? Does anyone have some pictures of some good looking GT's with the stock body to help sway me?

Screw it, I think I decided that I'm going to keep the body stock and just get it repainted. Then I'd wax it and it'll be all shiny and s***.
Pictures like these convinced my stock GT's can still look pretty damn clean.
http://forums.corral.net/forums/showpost.php?p=5718559&postcount=187
So looks like I'll just be paying for a paint job. Max of $3,000, looking around to spend $2,500 or so. You guys think I made the right decision? I like the Saleen look a lot but $4,500 for everything is an assload of money to be throwing around like that. Especially since it adds nothing to the power department.
I'll have the most fun with cars AFTER I land myself a nice career. For the time being, just a repaint sounds good to me.

How bad is the current paint? Or do you just want it a different color?
Perhaps you could get it insanely detailed/polished, and see how well that looks?

Paints pretty bad. Hood is 80% stripped of clear coat, including the driver side panel. I can literally go out to my car every single day and peel of some more clear coat. Roof was some surface rust and the paint is faded thanks to the heat.
If you're interested, I can snap some pics for you tomorrow Dave so you can see what I see.

Might as well. Hard to tell in the pics that the paint is bad, that's why I was wondering if you could possibly just restore what you have.

Now, how exactly does the factory paint work/get applied?
To my understanding, a color coat goes down, and a clearcoat goes over it. Can a faded paintjob be restored by stripping the current clear, working with the current color coat a bit, and re-clearcoating it?

Yeah, when I try to take pictures, sorry, crappy pictures, of my car, I try to avoid taking a photo of the top left portion of my car because it aint pretty there, lol.
I made this thread about 3 years ago when it first started developing and it looks like one can't apply the clear coat, the base coat also has to be reapplied. The pictures don't work anymore but I believe I still have the original peeling pictures somewhere. I'll take a shot of the atrocity tomorrow and post them both up. Kinda like a side by side comparison showcasing what happens when you wait, ha. And FWIW, the only reason I didn't listen to them and get it taken care of right away was due to the slight surface rust and paint fade and other minor imperfections. So I waited, and waited, and 3 years later, here I am.

That's correct. Unfortunately, the only way to fix it, once the clear starts peeling, is to re-spray. Sometimes you get lucky, and it comes off with compressed air. Usually, you have to scrape it off with a razor blade.

Alright snapped some craptastic pictures of my car. Here's what I'm talking about.
As bad as you thought?
So know, the only thing I have left to decide is if I want clear headlights or smoked. I was orginally going to go with clears because my rims aren't gray or black but I've seen a perfect example of my car with smoked headlights. Perfect as in I found some pics of a dark green mustang, with Steeda Ultra Lite II rims, with the smoked headlights on. So I guess that gives me a good idea on how they will look.
I think they'll look pretty good. I'm almost fairly certain I'm going to go with the smoked unless I can spot some dark green mustangs sporting some clear headlights that look better. You guys dig the smoked look? Just picture the pony emblem and minus the chin spoiler and you have an exact representation of my car.

Good God, get that thing painted now man.
I like the clear headlights better, the smoked just don't seem to flow well with that color.
